Pay Range: £13.69 to £15.83 per hour
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM (30-minute lunch break)
Reeson Education has a fantastic opportunity for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a thriving primary school in the M11 area of Manchester. This Teaching Assistant role is available immediately and is a full-time, long-term position with the opportunity to transition onto a school contract.
This is an inclusive and supportive school with a strong leadership team and a commitment to providing high-quality education for all pupils. The school is seeking a Teaching Assistant with experience in SEMH support to work 1:1 with a Year 6 pupil who needs help with behavioural engagement and social interactions.
About the Teaching Assistant Role:
- This Teaching Assistant position involves supporting a Year 6 pupil with SEMH needs who struggles with following adult instructions and occasionally has verbal (rarely physical) altercations with peers.
- You will help the pupil stay engaged with classwork, develop independence, and maintain motivation throughout the school day.
- The role includes running small group support sessions at social times to encourage positive peer relationships in a supervised setting.
- You will use sports and physical activities to motivate the pupil and provide structured play during break times.
- Full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30-minute lunch break.
The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will:
- Have experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or alternative education setting.
- Be patient, professional, and resilient, with a calm and consistent approach to managing behaviour.
- Be able to build rapport quickly and establish a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil.
- Have a background or interest in sports, coaching, or mentoring, as this will be beneficial for engaging the pupil.
- Have experience supporting behaviour management strategies and encouraging positive interactions between peers.
- Hold a relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Be able to provide two professional references covering the last three years.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- You will go through our quick and simple vetting process, with 24/7 consultant support.
- A clear Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Two professional references from work or education within the last three years.
- Previous experience working with SEMH pupils in a school, alternative provision, or youth support role.
