Job Overview: A wonderful opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join a lovely primary school in Battersea. The role involves supporting class teachers in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for children. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in lesson preparation, classroom management, and providing general support and SEN support to ensure all pupils have access to learning.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Support for Pupils:
- Attend to personal needs of pupils, implementing social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare programmes.
- Supervise and support pupils to ensure their safety and access to learning.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and addressing individual needs.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Encourage interaction and engagement in teacher-led activities.
- Foster independence in pupils where appropriate.
Support for Teachers:
- Prepare the classroom for lessons and assist with the display of pupils' work.
- Monitor and report on pupil progress and problems.
- Undertake record-keeping as requested by the teacher.
- Assist in managing pupil behaviour and report difficulties as necessary.
- Gather and relay information between parents/carers and the teacher.
- Provide basic clerical and administrative support, including photocopying, typing, filing, and collecting money.
Support for the Curriculum:
- Assist pupils in understanding instructions and achieving literacy and numeracy outcomes.
- Support pupils in using accessibility tools such as ICT.
- Prepare and maintain equipment and resources as directed by the teacher.
Support for the School:
- Promote the aims and values of the school.
- Maintain good order among pupils and ensure their health and safety.
- Actively promote equality of opportunity and the Rights Respecting Agenda.
- Work in partnership with the school community, including colleagues, governors, parents, carers, and outside agencies.
- Uphold professional behaviour, acting as a good role model in punctuality and attendance.
- Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are fully understood and followed in line with the Children Act 2004 and other relevant guidelines.
- Comply with data protection laws and maintain accurate and secure records.
- Treat all information acquired through employment with strict confidentiality.
- Promote and comply with the school's and LA's policies on equality of opportunity.
