SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD Unit) | £80-£100 per day | ASAP Start | Enfield, North London

Are you passionate about supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and helping them achieve their potential in a nurturing environment? Reeson Education is looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Enfield with a specialised ASD unit. This is an ideal role for someone who's ready to make a difference by providing one-on-one and small group support to pupils with additional needs.

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant within the school's ASD unit, you'll work closely with children who have ASD, supporting them academically, socially, and emotionally. This role is perfect for someone who is calm, patient, and ready to bring a positive influence to the classroom, ensuring each child feels valued and encouraged to progress at their own pace.

Key Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • One-on-One Support: Provide tailored assistance to pupils within the ASD unit, helping them engage with the curriculum and build confidence in their abilities.
  • Group Activities: Facilitate small group sessions designed to develop social skills, communication, and teamwork.
  • Collaborative Planning: Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt teaching strategies as needed.
  • Progress Tracking: Monitor each child's progress and provide feedback to the SENCO and teachers, adjusting support where necessary.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Create a calm and structured learning environment, using positive reinforcement to encourage desirable behaviours and build trust with students.

What We're Looking For in an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience with SEN: Prior experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Patience and Resilience: A calm, understanding approach to supporting students, with a focus on creating a positive learning experience.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adjust to the unique needs of each child, and a proactive attitude in finding solutions to everyday challenges.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and parents, fostering a collaborative support network.
  • Empathy and Enthusiasm: A genuine desire to help children succeed and feel included in their learning environment.

What This School Offers:

  • Specialised Support Unit: Work in a dedicated ASD unit designed to meet the needs of children with autism, equipped with resources and facilities to enhance their learning.
  • Professional Development: Opportunities for further training and development in SEN, including workshops and access to SEN resources.
  • Inclusive Community: Be part of a school that celebrates diversity, values inclusion, and supports each child's journey.
  • Team-Oriented Environment: Collaborate with a supportive staff team committed to providing high-quality education and care for children with additional needs.

If you're an SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for working in an ASD unit and supporting children with special educational needs, apply today! This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a positive, inclusive school environment in Enfield where every child is encouraged to thrive.
