A primary school in Haringey is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a child in their EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) class with an EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan). The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children, particularly those with Autism or other special educational needs, and will be enthusiastic about helping students thrive in a mainstream environment.
Key Responsibilities for the SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-on-one support to a child with an EHCP in an EYFS setting.
- Assist the classroom teacher in adapting lessons and activities to meet the child's individual needs.
- Support the child's social, emotional, and behavioural development, ensuring their well-being throughout the day.
- Work closely with the school's SEN team to follow the child's EHCP and ensure their progress.
- Monitor and report on the child's progress, adjusting support strategies as necessary.
Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Experience working with children who have special educational needs (SEN), particularly in early years or primary settings.
- Familiarity with EHCPs and how to support children with additional needs in a mainstream setting.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a nurturing approach to supporting young learners.
- A DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
