Year 2 Teacher for 1 form entry primary school based in Chelsea

1-year maternity contract from January 2025

Inner London main teacher pay scale (£38,766 - £55,415)

This 1 form entry primary school, a short walk from West Brompton and Earls Court stations, are looking for a dedicated and passionate year 2 teacher to join their team from January 2025. This primary school is Ofsted awarded outstanding in all areas. The teachers within this happy and caring school show commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind and they have created warm and nurturing relationships with pupils leading to overall school success.

Year 2 Teacher Role Overview

As a Year 2 Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a stimulating, engaging, and supportive classroom where each child can thrive. You will plan and deliver a high-quality curriculum that encourages curiosity, creativity, and resilience in a safe, inclusive environment. Working alongside a team of committed professionals, you will play a key role in promoting a love of learning, supporting students' academic progress, and developing their social and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities of the year 2 Teacher

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver inspiring lessons in line with the Year 2 curriculum.
  • Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes active learning and respect.
  • Assess, record, and report on students' development, progress, and attainment.
  • Use assessment data to tailor learning activities to meet individual needs and challenge all learners.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan cross-curricular and enrichment activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and other stakeholders to support student development.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of teaching best practices and curriculum changes.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 1, preferably Year 2.
  • A solid understanding of the Year 2 curriculum and assessment requirements.
  • Strong commitment to inclusive teaching and the ability to adapt to varied learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Ability to foster a nurturing and motivating classroom environment.
