About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team in Tooting, SW17. This full-time position is ideal for someone passionate about working with children with special educational needs (SEN) and making a positive impact on their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide one-to-one and group support to pupils with special educational needs, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
  • Classroom Assistance: Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, preparing resources, and delivering tailored activities.
  • Behaviour Management: Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and manage challenging situations effectively.
  • Personal Care: Assist with personal care tasks as needed, ensuring the well-being and dignity of the pupils.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and record the progress of pupils, providing feedback to teachers and parents to ensure continuous development.
  • Inclusive Environment: Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages the participation and engagement of all pupils.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapt learning activities.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience: Prior experience working with children with special educational needs is essential.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of SEN practices and strategies to support diverse learning needs.
  • Patience and Empathy: A caring and patient nature, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
