About the HLTA Role:

A dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) is sought to join the team at a Nursery and Infant School in Thornton Heath. This full-time role involves working with children from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Year 2, providing high-quality support to ensure their educational development and well-being.

HLTA Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons across EYFS to Year 2.
  • Work closely with the teaching staff to develop and implement learning activities that meet the diverse needs of all pupils.
  • Lead small group interventions and provide one-to-one support to pupils, ensuring they reach their full potential.
  • Assist in the assessment and monitoring of pupils' progress, providing feedback and contributing to their individual learning plans.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting good behaviour and effective learning.
  • Assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and materials.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of all pupils, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.


HLTA Requirements:

  • Relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with young children in an educational setting, particularly in EYFS and KS1.
  • Strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum and KS1 teaching practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
