The English Teacher Job
One of my favourite and most inspirational clients has instructed me to recruit a fantastic English teacher to cover a maternity at least until July 2025 starting either now or in January. I have an exciting opportunity for an English specialists teacher (QTS/QTLS) teaching students in a Secondary SEN setting who have moderate learning difficulties and associated social and communication needs.

Most pupils do entry level qualifications at Level 1 and 2, some complete functional skills plus a few would do iGCSE English. These students need more time to process and individual support so class sizes are small (maximum of 6) and well resourced (minimum of 2 TAs).

The School
This is an inspiring and rewarding school based in Lambeth for students who have moderate learning difficulties and related social and communication needs. The school aims for its students to leave school as confident learners and participating citizens, having gained the skills, qualifications and attributes that will enable them to take their place in wider society.

The school is in Lambeth Borough and unusually for an inner London school it benefits from plenty of onsite parking as well as having great public transport links by bus, tube or rail. The school offers all of its pupils a broad and balanced curriculum within a calm and person centred, calm and encouraging learning environment

Classes are no larger than 6 pupils and there is a deployment of two teaching assistants in every class to ensure that pupils get to access the support and teaching that they need. As a result children are offered more individual attention than could be afforded in a mainstream school.

The Ideal English Teacher Applicant

No SEN school experience required as in most instances these pupils would be supported in a mainstream setting.

QTS/QTLS

This is a chance to branch out in a new, less pressured direction for a good English teacher who is ready for a change from the relentless grind on Secondary education.

I can even put you in touch with a fantastic Science teacher who made the same transition less that a year ago at this fantastic Lambeth school who will tell you how life changing this move has been for her!
