Role Overview:
The chosen candidate will take on the role of Behaviour Mentor, playing a pivotal role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) within the classroom. The successful applicant will have a passion for making a positive impact on student's lives and will work closely with the teaching team to ensure a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teaching staff to tailor strategies that address the behavioural and emotional needs of students with SEN.
- Provide one-to-one mentoring and small group sessions, promoting engagement and personalised learning.
- Implement effective behaviour management techniques to create a positive and conducive learning atmosphere.
- Monitor student progress, offer constructive feedback to teachers and parents, and contribute to individualised education plans (IEPs).
- Adapt teaching methods and resources to suit the unique learning styles of each student.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar behavioural mentor role is highly advantageous.
- Strong understanding of special educational needs and the challenges that students with SEN may encounter.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and contribute to an inclusive school community.
- Compassion, patience, and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of students with SEN.
